Chandigarh’s Food and Education plans have got appreciation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The city earned another laurel at national-level by providing food for all at Rs 10/- only. Annapurna Akshaypatra Yojana and the Kalam Express are the schemes for the welfare of people, who are not able to afford food and education. Central Government wants other states and Union Territories to follow these schemes too.
Annapurna Akshaypatra Yojana
It is food scheme started by Chandigarh Administration to provide food to the needy. This scheme was launched on January 2, 2017 by the administration. Under the Annapurna Akshaypatra, Yojana 3,000 nourishment bundles are dispersed at various areas in Chandigarh. Seven extraordinarily manufactured motile food-vans are being utilized to convey the nourishment parcels at seven areas over the city, three times a week. The food provided by the administration is hygienic, nutritious and affordable. The meal consists of 6 chapatis, vegetables and pickles.
It is a Chandigarh’s Educational Scheme. It is like School on Wheel for children. Kalam Express is not only about the basic education but also to maintain their special needs.
