How To Read Band Scale Of IELTS
As discussed above, there are nine bands which are indicated as scores in this test. Each band corresponds to certain level of competence in English. Here is the brief explanation-
9-Expert User- Has full command of the language, accurate and fluent with complete understanding
8-Very Good User- Has command of the language but misunderstandings may occur in unfamiliar situations
7-Good User- Has command of the language, occasional inaccuracies, misunderstandings in some situations
6- Competent User- Has effective command of the language.
5- Modest User- Has partial command of the language, likely to make many mistakes.
4- Limited User- Basic competence, has frequent problems in understanding, not able to use complex language
3- Extremely Limited User- Convey and understands only general language, frequent breakdowns in communication
2- Intermittent User- No Real communication is possible, has great difficulty in understanding spoken and written English
1- Non-User- No ability to use the language

IELTS Exam Preparation Tips
1- Get familiarise with the sound, situation and the speakers using the example at the beginning of the first section
2- Keep listening to the recording untill it stops and focus on the questions that related to the part of the recording
3- The recordings have several pauses in between. Use this time for preparing the next set of questions
4- In the end, you will have little time to fill in your answer sheet. Check for grammar errors and spelling
5- In the reading section, go through the each passage and try to understand the writer’s purpose.
6-Do not try to understand each and every word and phrase as there is limited time and you might not be tested on those parts anyway
7-For writing section, there is maximum number of words assigned for each task.
8- Plan you essay in a way so that you get enough time to recheck your work.
9-In speaking test, avoid speaking like recorded machine. Always discuss the topic assigned or asked to talk about.
